An Irish farm in Louth has come up with an innovative way to sell their potatoes. Ballymakenny Farm outside Drogheda has opened a contactless drive-thru potato service for those in need of the humble spud to add to their meals.
The Louth farm, best known for supplying top-quality and unusual potato varieties to restaurants throughout Ireland, had to rethink its business model.
The result of their brainstorm was the Ballymakenny Farm Spudshack, a service which aims to keep the pub well-fed but also is very conscious of how we must adhere to social distancing.
Customers can drive up and collect their potatoes without leaving their cars.
Some of Ballymakenny’s varieties include heritage potatoes like Rag Emmalie, Violetta, Pink Fir Apple and Mayan Gold. The farm also delivers the potatoes if you can’t get to them.
The efforts of Ballymakenny Farm are just one of the great examples of Irish businesses that are popping on their creative caps during these trying times.
