Children of Millburn Primary School in Northern Ireland dedicate Chinese song to Coronavirus victims

The children of Millburn Primary School in Coleraine, Northern Ireland joined together in inspiring song in support of the victims of the coronavirus. ‘Let the World be Full of Love’,’ is not often heard in Chinese in classrooms in Ireland but the students proudly showcased their linguistic talents in a wonderful tribute in solidarity.

Amid reports around the world that there has been hostile behaviour towards citizens of Asian descent, this demonstration is all the more powerful and shows how people can become united in the face of adversity. The choir consists of around 30 students between the ages of 8 to 13 years old.

It was organised by the Confucius Institute at Ulster University; sixteen of the project’s teachers are from Hubei province, where the coronavirus outbreak began.

‘Ulster University has wide-ranging partnerships with China through our ongoing international research collaborations, student and staff exchange programmes and The Confucius Institute, which is helping to develop academic, cultural, economic and social ties between the two countries,’ Ulster University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paddy Nixon says.

‘Let the World be Full of Love’ is a song that was written by Chinese singer-songwriter Guo Feng and was released in 1986.

In 2019, Millburn Primary School celebrated being officially and nationally recognised with the title of ‘Outstandingly Happy School’ which was facilitated by the Art of Brilliance and also won ‘COSTA Outstanding Sports School’.
