Could you be the next Comedian Writer in Residence? €5000 grant up for grabs

The Red Line Book Festival, an annual literary celebration showcasing local, national, and international authors, is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for to fund a Comedian Writer in Residence.

The application process is now open for a Comedian Writer in Residence who will support the delivery of the festival program.

The focus of this year’s residency is to nurture local talent in the art of stand-up comedy writing.

This service contract comes with a grant of €5000, covering all relevant costs associated with the residency.

The successful applicant will be tasked with providing residency services on a part-time basis between August and October 2024 and mentor a group of adults to develop their stand-up comedy writing and performance skills.

The highlight of the residency will be a series of public workshops culminating in a live performance during the Red Line Book Festival on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

The selected comedian will host the opening this special event.

Interested comedians are encouraged to submit their applications by July 17th 2024. All details and criteria are outlined on the festival website.

The festival will take place from October 14-20, 2024, and features a diverse program including panel workshops, theatre productions, children’s events, and more. This unique residency is supported by South Dublin Libraries and Arts.

South Dublin Libraries will offer additional support and assistance to the Writer in Residence in admin, marketing and technical support with various elements of the residency as well as liaison with relevant community groups for relevant promotional activities, and facilitation of meetings, workshops or talks.

Applications for the Comedian Writer in Residence position are open to individuals passionate about stand-up comedy writing and engaging audiences.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase talent, develop skills, and contribute to the vibrant literary scene at the Redline Book Festival.

The Red Line Book Festival is an initiative of South Dublin Libraries. The festival seeks to enhance the experience of culturally curious audiences visiting Dublin, offering them an exciting cultural environment in a suburban area of Dublin not normally associated with literary festivals.
